Tributes to long-serving paramedic Peter Young

Mr Peter Young, aged 66, of Melbourne Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, was cremated at Mansfield Crematorium, following a service in the chapel.

Born in Shirebrook and a lifelong local resident, Peter worked as a mechanic at Lucas in Mansfield on leaving school. In 1979, he joined Nottinghamshire Ambulance and retired from East Midlands Ambulance Service in 2011, after 32 years working as a paramedic.

His interests included socialising with friends and he enjoyed watching Superbikes and Moto GP. He loved his holidays, especially cruising.

Peter, who passed away at home on November 5, 2017, leaves his wife Beverley, son Mark, stepdaughter Laura, stepson Daniel and three grandchildren.

Floral tributes were from wife Beverley, grandchildren and staff from the emergency department at King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton – they were later placed on the plaque remembering Ronald Hill at the crematorium. Donations in lieu of flowers raised £541 for John Eastwood Hospice and Orchard Medical Practice.

The service was conducted by Mr Kevin Charles and arrangements were by Ken Gregory & Sons.
