Trees planted in memory of founder

Members of a Mansfield community group have planted trees in memory of one of their founding members.

The Friends of Quarry Lane conservation group were joined by Mansfield MP Sir Alan Meale to plant the tree in memory of Diane Lohan, a founder member of the group.

A total of three trees were planted, and paid for by a Greenwood Community Forest tree planting grant, as part of its Trees for Shade initiative.

The Friends of Quarry Lane conservation group was formed in April 2003 and are affiliated to the Greenwood Community Forum.

Working with Nottinghamshire County Council and Mansfield District Council, the group’s aim is to carry out conservation work at the Quarry Lane Nature Reserve by maintaining pathways, planting wild flowers, erecting bird boxes and removing overgrown vegetation.
