Travellers leave filthy mess yet again as they leave Ashfield park

Travellers have left an Ashfield park covered in human excrement after setting up camp there for two weeks.

The travellers left Brierley Forest Park shortly Ashfield District Council were granted possession of the park on Sunday.

Huthwaite councillor Lee Anderson said: “ADC were granted possession this morning for Brierley Park.

This means the Travellers cannot return. ADC are also pushing for this possession to cover anyone setting up an illegal camp on Brierley.

“Ashfield District Council have been really good on this.

“They served trespass papers immediately after I first got in touch and met with senior officers.

“The courts were very slow in in finding a time slot but we got there eventually.

“A massive thanks to the Ashfield District Council environmental team who had to clear all the crap up. Now its time to push for the barriers.”

Coun Anderson hit the headlines when he left boulders to keep out the same travellers from Strawberry Bank in Huthwaite last month.

Residents are now campaigning to have barriers installed to prevent travellers returning to the park.
