The 10-month project will begin from Monday, September 21 and includes plans to connect homes to a brand new sewer pipe and a new pumping station that will allow waste to be taken away more efficiently, where it can be treated at a nearby works.

This major upgrade, which is expected to be up and running by July 2021, will replace existing private pipes and septic tanks in some parts of the area.

To keep everyone safe during the initial part of the project, a temporary road closure will be put in place along Buttery Lane from Monday, October 5, to Friday, October 18 between the old railway bridge to just pass the river crossing.

Helen Purdy from Severn Trent said: “We’re investing £1.6 million to improve the service we offer in Teversal, after listening to what matters most to our customers.

"When we’re finished, this rural community will have a reliable and efficient sewer network, giving them peace of mind.

“It’s also great news for the environment because waste will be able to flow into a nearby treatment works, where it’ll be treated and cleaned faster and more efficiently.”

“To carry out the work safely, we’ll need to put a temporary road closure in place along Buttery Lane for a short while, which we understand will cause some frustration.

“We’ll be doing everything we can to minimise the disruption.

"We’d like to thank everyone in advance, for their patience as we get this essential work done.”
