There have been ‘plenty’ of road traffic crashes on the roads in North Nottinghamshire today (Monday, February 8) according to Matt Reavill from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service who shared a picture on social media of a car which had collided into a ditch in Farnsfield due to the snow and icy conditions.
Motorists have been warned to only travel for essential reasons, in line with current Covid-19 lockdown rules but also as driving conditions remain ‘treacherous’ with snow continuing to fall.

“Covid lockdown and snow/ ice equals stay at home!”.
It comes after the white stuff fell heavily across the county last night, causing disruptions to roads and forcing schools to close to children of key workers as the Met Office predict it will keep snowing all day as the ‘Beast from the East 2’ makes a return to the UK.
A yellow weather warning for snow is in place for the town and is valid until Wednesday (February 10), while some other parts in the UK will face significant snow accumulations with amber warnings in place.

The service tweeted: “We have attended lots of RTCs already this morning.
"If driving is essential for you today please ensure you are doing it safely.
"The roads are very icy and you can easily end up like this one #DriveToArrive.”
