A MAN was arrested at the scene of a road crash near Cuckney which led to the death of a motorcyclist on Saturday.
The 61-year-old man, from the Sheffield area, was questioned following the incident involving a car and motorcycle on the A616. He was later released on bail.
The crash happened at around 3.10pm and led to the death of the 64-year-old rider.
He was taken to Bassetlaw Hospital but pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. Police are yet to release his name.
Officers issued an appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, but who has not yet spoken to them, to come forward.
Following the tragedy the road was closed between its junction with the A60 at Cuckney and the B6034 at Budby.
Police immediately launched an investigation including close examination of the scene.
The route had been re-opened by Sunday morning.
The rider is the second motorcyclist in four months to die following an incident on the road.
In June Colin Heptinstall (59), from Eckington, Derbyshire, died after his Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a Jaguar XKR at High Hatfield on the same road.
A 58-year-old man, also riding a motorcycle and also involved in the same June collision, had to be airlifted to hospital.
