Four injured after family 'stranded' in M1 crash between Mansfield and Matlock

Four people were injured after a family was left ‘stranded’ in a serious collision on the M1 between Mansfield and Matlock.

But remarkably no one is believed to have been seriously injured, despite dramatic photos showing the severity of the smash on the northbound carriageway between junctions 27 and 28, on the borders of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, yesterday, Saturday, November 7.

“Range Rover crashes into a lorry disabling the vehicle and leaving stranded in lane one,” said the force.

"Driver and family remain in car. Five minutes later van crashes into the back of Range Rover. Somehow, only minor injuries.”

The motorway was closed while emergency services attended, causing lengthy delays.
