"This is expected to take until around 2pm, when we should be able to open the A1.”

The condition of the driver is not yet known.

A diversion via the A638 to Retford and to Scrooby is in place, where drivers will be able to rejoin the A1 via the A614.

The Highways spokesperson asked that all drivers stick to the diversion, adding: “We are receiving reports of some drivers travelling through small villages causing delays and inconvenience to residents.”
