Town’s Poppy Appeal launches

Veterans were joined by civic leaders at the launch of the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal in Mansfield.

This year the charity is focusing on the range of work it does to support Armed Forces families.

Mayor Tony Egginton, who attended, said: “The Poppy Appeal is a very worthwhile cause which helps current and former members of the Armed Forces and their families

“Poppies are available for a donation in the Civic Centre and at venues throughout the district.”

Youth mayor Tanna Nitta added she would like to raise awareness of Cadet Forces, who volunteer to help with collections.
