Tour of Britain speeds through Annesley Woodhouse

It was raining but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of Annesley Woodhouse residents who lined the streets to welcome the Tour of Britain.

.Shops put up cycling themed displays and children waved banners as they caught a glimpse of the pelaton as it sped past on Forest Road.

Mum Kirsty Smith 33 said: "It's lovely to see it come through here a second time. My son Oliver has been counting the number of sleeps down to it this week."

Janine Millichip 46, said: "It was really exciting last year and it's fantastic for it to happen again. Seeing them here is a chance in a lifetime."

Andy Frogson owner of Sauce and Brown on Forest Road had a shop full of customers sheltering from the rain. He said: "When something like this comes along its great for the area and we put up a display to welcome them and create a bit of atmosphere."

Ollie Mills, 9, was proudly waving his home made banner . " I want to see Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas!"

Following a parade of Police outriders, the pelaton sped past to cheers from the crowd.
