However, the Tour of Britain cycling race is due to take place through the town, which may turn her whole day into chaos.

Amy said: “My dad is fuming with it all. He has paid for the lot -the wedding and reception, and he thinks it is absolutely disgusting. I understand that this has got to happen wherever we may live but I would like to know how long have Mansfield/Nottighamshire county council known about this.”

Amy says that she was contacted by the registry office, who offered her a change of date in April, but Amy has already arranged and paid for the rest of the day, as well as having her wedding date engraved on her ring.

Amy added: “We were also offered to do the ‘legal’ bit a few days before with just a couple of witnesses and then have a blessing ceremony at our reception venue, in front of our guests and make it look like we were getting married properly even though we had already done it. This could incur a cost as the registrar has to be paid to come out to a venue.”

The venue then offered Amy’s guests passes for their cars to get though the cordon, but she is worried that if she provides the office with a list of names and registrations, that something may change on the day and her guests would not be allowed through.

Rob Fisher, of  Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “We contacted the couple on the day we were told our Mansfield office was going to be affected in this way, and we are working closely with the family and Mansfield District Council to do everything in our power to ensure the wedding goes according to plan and with as little disruption as possible.”

“The exact route for the Tour of Britain through Mansfield has not yet been confirmed, hence why it is taking a little longer than anticipated to finalise a suitable plan for the couple. We are determined to ensure everything runs smoothly to give the couple a wonderful day to remember.”

A Spokesperson for the tour of Britain said: “we are working closely with our colleagues at Mansfield District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council to ensure all
