Tour of Britain passes through Ashfield and Mansfield

The weather didn't put families off, and residents came out in force to see the seventh stage of the race.

The crows cheered the cyclists on as they passed, riding another four kilometers to the finish line in Mansfield.

The race passed by the turn, on the corner of Beck Lane, and King's Mill Road East at 3.30pm

The Nottinghamshire stage was the longest stage, and began at West Bridgford at 10.30, racing 223 kilometres before the finish on Chesterfield Road South.

Nigel and Jethro Randell were at the event at Ashfield today.

Nigel said: "We've been a few times to the Tour of Britain, we've been to the Olympics and The Tour De France, I'm a distance cyclist myself so it's great to see."

Elaine Greaves, Matthew Greaves, Charlotte Simmonds, Louise Simmonds, all from Sutton, turned out together to see the cyclists pass.

Mrs Greaves said: "The race is excellent for the town, it's really brough everyone together."

David and Kim Dellar, from Skegby said: "The Tour of Britain has been really good for the town, although there could have been more publicity and decorations like in other towns and villages."

Ian Wright and Jayne Lawson said : "The race is really good for the town, and its good for the kids too."
