Tough challenge nets charity cash

The 10 local lads, known as the Kamikaze Mud Monkeys, took part the Tough Mudder challenge in Skipton on 7th September.

As well as completing the gruelling 12-mile obstacle course, they also raised £1,925 for Help for Heroes, the Child Growth Foundation and Jigsaw.

The competition is widely regarded as the toughest assault course in the world.

Designed by the special forces, it required months of training and around one in five don’t make the finish line.

Former bomb disposal expert and group organiser Simon Lilly (32) from Berry Hill said: “It was extremely hard, with the ice bath swim being one of the toughest obsticals - but we all completed it in just over three hours.

“We’d like to thank everyone who supported us and donated sponsor money.”
