They are open to organisations of all sizes and in all industries on an international basis, with the winners this year coming from the United Kingdom, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the West Indies.

Alex Botha, chief executive of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the trustees and staff of the British Safety Council we warmly congratulate NMC and its employees on gaining an International Safety Award with distinction.

“All of those working at NMC have made this award possible which recognises their dedication and commitment to preventing injury and ill health in the workplace. NMC should be rightly proud of their achievement.

“We are proud of our association with NMC and their commitment to keeping their employees and workplaces healthy and safe.”

David Burgess, group health and safety manager, said: “Winning this award is a clear demonstration of NMC’s commitment and determination to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health.

“To achieve a distinction, we needed to achieve 60 out of 60 marks on the submission which is very challenging.

“It is an honour and demonstrates our continuing commitment to the highest standards of health and safety.

“I would also thank and congratulate NMC’s entire workforce, as this would not have been possible without their help.”

The award was presented to NMC at a black tie gala dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
