'˜Too little, too late'- Ofsted inspectors deliver damning report on Mansfield Woodhouse school
That is the damning verdict of inspectors over efforts of school leaders to improve the failing Manor Academy in Mansfield Woodhouse.
The Park Hall Road school has now been plunged back into special measures four years after it was ordered to clean up its act.

The report reads: “This school requires special measures because it is failing to give its pupils an acceptable standard of education and the persons responsible for leading, managing or governing the school are not demonstrating the capacity to secure the necessary improvement in the school.
“Senior leaders have been to slow to address the recommendations from the previous inspection report.
“Consequently, the school has not made enough progress and many of the actions put in place have proved to be too little, too late.

“The changes put in place since the 2015 results have not had the desired effect in improving the quality of teaching and pupil outcomes.
“Teaching is inadequate across years and in a range of subjects. As a result, pupils’ achievements are not improving quickly enough,
“The behaviour of pupils requires improvement.
“The attainment of pupils in 2015 was well below national average.

Headteacher Donna Trusler told the Chad: “We are extremely disappointed by the recent Ofsted report, however the judgements are mainly based on legacy results.
Many things have improved, A-Level results, attendance, homework and behaviour to name a few.
“I have been principal here a very short time and I will continue working hard with my team to drive progress forward.

Despite the damning report, inspectors found that appointments made since the last inspection have strengthened senior leadership, the restructuring of the governors into a board was bearing fruit, that pupils feel safe and that most in the sixth-form were making adequate progress.
The school was originally put into special measures in 2011, but was found to have made improvements over the next four years, including a report from June 2015 which said headteacher Donna Trusler - who took over in 2014 - was continuing to ‘move the academy forward at a rapid pace’.
