Tibshelf motorist was caught drink-driving

A TIBSHELF motorist seen leaving a car park at speed following a disturbance was caught drink-driving.

Operators of street surveillance cameras in Chesterfield town centre tipped off police at 4am on 26th October.

Officers followed a Ford Fiesta from Horns Bridge roundabout to Mansfield Road and stopped the car.

Helen Griffiths, prosecuting, said police smelled drink on driver Daniel Hurley and he failed a roadside breathalyser test.

He was arrested and later gave a reading of 85mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath - almost two and a half times the 35mcgs limit.

Hurley (21) of Derwent Drive, Tibshelf, admitted drink-driving. He had no previous convictions.

“I apologise. It won’t happen again. It was a silly mistake,” he told Chesterfield magistrates on Monday.

Hurley, who works at Tibshelf Road Chef, was fined £220 and banned from driving for 20 months, with £85 costs.

He agreed to go on a drink-driving rehabilitation course which, if passed, would reduce his ban to 15 months
