Police, fire crews, an ambulance and an air ambulance attended the scene.

John Lee Mills, Head of Community Safety for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, tweeted: “Both vehicles air bags deployed and the use of seat belts helped protect all casualties.

“The air ambulance was also called. The casualties were treated at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

“Watching your speed and wearing a seat belt can increase your chances of surviving a traffic collision.”
