Three people taken to hospital after crash in Sutton

Seat belts saved the lives of three people who were cut out of a car yesterday following a serious collision on the A617 in Sutton in Ashfield.

The incident, at around 2.30pm, involved two vehicles with three people trapped.

Police, fire crews, an ambulance and an air ambulance attended the scene.

John Lee Mills, Head of Community Safety for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, tweeted: “Both vehicles air bags deployed and the use of seat belts helped protect all casualties.

“The air ambulance was also called. The casualties were treated at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

“Watching your speed and wearing a seat belt can increase your chances of surviving a traffic collision.”
