Three-legged cat abandoned in Mansfield rain for hours

A cat with only three legs was left abandoned in the rain for hours before being rescued by the RSPCA.

The RSPCA were called to a distinctive three-legged cat found sitting on a baby car seat in the rain for hours on Prospect Street in Mansfield on Monday, March 12.

The cat - which does not have a microchip - was seen by a concerned passer-by, who called the RSPCA after spotting the cat had still not moved three hours later.

It had been raining continuously all day and the cat was wet through.

Inspector Keith Ellis said: “The cat was very lethargic and not very lively, I think he was possibly disorientated which is why he hadn’t moved

“He has had his leg amputated and is castrated so he must have been owned at some point. It may be that he has been dumped with the car seat.

“He’s been checked over by a vet and is now in RSPCA care. If anyone recognises the cat or has any information for us they can ring our inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
