Three people have been taken to hospital after a five-car smash in Kirkby.

The pile-up involving four cars and a van happened on Derby Road, shortly before 5pm on Friday, June 3, near its junction with Coxmoor Road by Coxmoor Golf Club.

Three people, including at least one woman, were taken to hospital as a result of the crash.

The vehicles involved were a BMW, a Peugeot, a Ford Mondeo, a Skoda and a VW Transporter van.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said three people had been taken to hospital as precaution.

None of the injuries sustained were life-threatening or life-altering.

Traffic between Annesley and Mansfield was affected by the crash, which left the road closed in both direction until around 7.40pm.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
