Thousands raised for funeral costs of woman who died in car crash

More than £2,237 has been raised in less than a day for the funeral of a woman who died in a crash.

Hazel Fox lost her life when her blue Renault Clio collided with a lorry on Friday afternoon.

The 20-year-old from Sutton was a soldier in the Royal Logistics Corps, and such was her popularity that friends have rallied already to pledge money towards her funeral.

A page set up on the donation website, Go Fund Me, collected in thousands in the space of a few hours.

More than 174 people have so far dug deep to donate.

Created by Rebecca Amy-Elizabeth Lee, she wrote: “Although no amount of words can stop the heartache of hazels incredible family and friends, I have created this account hoping that we can all pull together and ease the families financial worries.

“Let’s give hazel the send off she deserves.

“Such a beautiful, young woman taken away far too soon.”

Police confirmed a woman was killed in a road traffic collision on the A16 near Spalding at around 4pm on Friday, February 26.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have seen either vehicle prior to the crash is asked to contact Lincs police on 101, or via the Collision Witness Hotline 01522 558855, quoting incident number 253 of February 26.
