The third Hall-Fast charity ball takes place on 29th May at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex, Sookholme.

Mansfield businessman Malk Hall is the brains behind the fundraising bonanza, which in previous years has helped to raise thousands of pounds to buy equipment for the Nottingham Road school.

The event is just one in a number of fundraising challenges Mr Hall, who is owner of the award-winning Mansfield firm Hall-Fast Industrial Supplies, is organising this year.

Another cause which will benefit from Hall-Fast’s fundraising is Headway UK - the brain injury charity.

Said Mr Hall: “Over the next 12 months we have committed to raising £30,000 with £15,000 going to the Fountaindale School, and the other £15,000 being split between Headway UK and Headway Nottingham.

“We hope half of the money raised will be raised from the Hall-Fast charity ball, with the other half being raised from a Nottingham Rugby Charity bike ride on 17th April and also a 300 miles in 24 hours bike ride (Newcastle to London) that I am undertaking on 22nd August.”

Fountaindale School sits on the Mansfield and Ashfield border and helps youngsters aged three to 19 with severe physical and sensory needs.

It has undergone an extensive re-development programme which has seen the old school building replaced with a new, multi-million pound purpose-built facility.

Over the past two years Hall-Fast has helped to raise more than £42,000 to kit out the school with a new equipment.

Speaking after the launch of the third annual ball at a special event for sponsors and media partners, Mr Hall said: “It was great to be able to take along sponsors, community partners and other people that have supported us over the last few years and going forward so that they could see first-hand what the money raised so far for the school has been used for.

“A a huge proportion of this has been used to purchase interactive monitors and seeing and hearing how it has helped the children was very pleasing.”
