Thieves enter two homes in Southwell to hunt for car keys while the owners are in the house

Thieves have tried to steal several cars in Southwell by gaining access to homes and stealing car keys.

One vehicle has been taken with keys on Dover Street, after a thief entered a house and took a woman's handbag whilst she was in the kitchen late at night.

Another property on Kirklington Road has been entered with an untidy search made of the downstairs, it is thought the offender were after vehicle keys to a rare make of vehicle.

The owners were asleep upstairs.

Two other properties on Woodland Drive and Beaumont Avenue had there locks tampered with but no entry gained

A police spokesman said: "Please keep all keys out of view at all times of the day."
