THE time has arrived for hopefuls to follow in the footsteps of regional queen Alicia Caley with the Miss Mansfield and Sherwood competition being launched this week.

Today Chad is launching the search for a young woman to be an ambassador for the area.

The annual glitzy event is inviting females between the age of 17 and 24 to put their names for ward for a chance to take this year’s crown.

The popularity of the competition has grown over the years and is reflected in the number of businesses offering their backing this year’s competition, with the main sponsorship from 6 Five 2’s Private Care Hire

Others include The Chand Indian Restaurant, Chad, 10 green Bottles Coffee Lounge, Pinders Opticians, DK Associates, Mansfield 103.2, The Works Hair and Beauty, Warsop Sporting Trust.

Once all entries are in, the hopefuls will be cut to 20 which will be decided by readers’ text votes. Judges will decide on the winner from the final 12 chosen for the ceremony at the John Fretwell Centre on 27th October.

Like last year’s winner Alicia Caley (18), the winners will have the chance to compete for the Miss England title.

See this week’s Chad (27th June) for your entry form and further entry details.
