The Queen arrives in Sheffield for the Maundy service

The Queen has arrived in Sheffield for the traditional Maundy service.

She arrived at Sheffield train station accompanied by husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Queen is attending the traditional Maundy service at Sheffield Cathedral where she will hand out coins - known as Royal Maundy - to South Yorkshire pensioners.

She will give the coins to 89 men and 89 women for their service to their community and their church.

Following the service, The Queen and The Duke will sign a visitors’ book before proceeding to the Great Entrance of the cathedral where an official photograph will be taken.

The royal party will then head to Sheffield Town Hall for a civic lunch.
