Text and Facebook row ends in Rainworth woman attacking her former friend

Kimberley Murrel, 28 of South Avenue, pleaded guilty at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, to attacking the woman on February 25th.

The court heard the two women had fallen out after five years of friendship and had sent each other insulting text messages. Murrell had unfriended the woman on Facebook.

The mother of four had gone to local stores in her car and saw the other woman in the car park.

They both got out of their cars and after shouting match ensued, Murrell had gone back to her car.

But she then got back out grabbed hold of the woman’s hair, ripping a clump of it from her head and punched her in the face.

A member of the public separated them.

Murrell said the complainant had made threats to go to her house.

She felt threatened by her victim and wanted it all to be dealt with, but she had gone too far and was remorseful.

The court heard there had been allegations that Murrell had tried to run the complainant over but CCTV evidence showed this did not happen.

She was given a three-month community order with a three-month curfew requirement and ordered to pay £100 compensation.
