The Teversal Village Candle Company, a family-run business which makes candles, has teamed up with the Christmas Homeless Shoebox Appeal to help people who have fallen on hard times this winter.

The candle company is asking customers to donate shoeboxes full of goodies and hand them in at the event on Saturday, December 8, at the Teversal Manor Rooms.

The event will start at 10am and finish at 3pm and visitors are asked to wear a Christmas jumper.

Sassie Bee’s, a florist from Farnsfield, and Mama’s Cakes will also be present at the event.

Chantelle North, who owns the Teversal Village Candle Company said: “It’s important a local community business like ours plays it part in helping people who have fallen on hard times, particularly at this time of the year”.

To donate, people are asked to fill a shoe box with a selection of gifts, the candle company has asked for people to “make it pretty”.

People are requested to include a Christmas card and wrap the box and lid separately so extra items can be added.

People are also asked to label their box for who it is intended for, for example male, female or dog.

Stuart Brown, a Christmas homeless shoebox appeal representative, said: “It’s very generous of Chantelle and her team to raise the awareness of homelessness and show great community spirit”.
