Brave Leanna Cox and her partner William Boulton will step down the aisle in style on Saturday 11th April at Newstead Abbey, followed by a reception at Hilcote Country Club, Alfreton.

The 29-year-old found out she had cancer just months before the couple were due to be married in 2012, and since then she had fought a tough battle against Hodkins Lymphoma.

The couple, of Lord Street, were determined to get married and asked for help with the costs as William had to reduce his shifts at work to help care for her.

Since featuring the plea in Chad, the pair were inundated with offers from kind hearted local shops and businesses to make it a day to remember. An online appeal on Gofundme raised £7,334.

Leanna said; “We are really grateful for everything that everyone has done for us.

“If it wasn’t for all the kind hearted people out there we wouldn’t be getting married.

“I still get messages now asking if I need anything or giving me their best wishes. Thank you for everything the Chad did for us too. It means a lot to us know there are people out there that really do care.”

Leanna thanked both venues and others who offered their services for free.

She added: “Mick and Chris Overton at Wedding Wheels are providing the cars that we need for the day and put us in contact with others who have helped. Angela Parker-Hurst at I Do Bridal Queen Street Mansfield gave me my beautiful dress, shoes, fur jacket and veil. She has also contacted people for a makeover, a new wig, a cake and other things.”
