Teen drugsdad-to-be told to ‘man up’ by court

A teenage father-to-be found in possession of drugs was told to man up and get his act together by magistrates.

Grant Barlow of Banks Avenue, Kirkby pleaded guilty to guilty to two counts of possessing MCAT and one of cannabis, when he appeared before Mansfield Magistrates on Wednesday.

The court heard the drugs had been found on him after police had visited him for an unrelated housing issue.

The court heard Barlow, 19 had an ongoing drug abuse problem. His partner was due to give birth in August.

He was given a community order with curfew for six weeks, with £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

The chairman of the bench told him: “You have a baby on the way - you need to man up and sort yourself out.”
