Talk on future of high street by professor

The future of the high street will be the topic at a free talk organised by Mansfield and Ashfield Development Forum.

Businesses and people interested in retail and town centre development are invited to attend the presentation by Professor Joshua Bamfield.

Professor Bamfield, from the Centre for Retail Research, Nottingham, has studied retail, consumer and crime trends in Europe and North America for 30 years.

Bev Smith, corporate director of regeneration at Mansfield District Council, said: “We are very pleased to have someone of Professor Bamfield’s calibre coming to speak in Mansfield.

“It promises to be an informative and enlightening event and I would encourage people to come along to hear his views.”

Professor Bamfield will share his insights on the future of the high street and the changing pattern of retail.

He will also explore the changes that can be expected in the medium-term that will impact on the work of town centres, organisers said.

Trevor Watson, service director of economy at Ashfield District Council said: “Regeneration of our town centres is a top priority and obviously the future of our high streets is critical to this ambition.”

The event is set to take place at The Old Library, Leeming Street, Mansfield, on Wednesday 11th December from 2pm to 4pm.
