SAMWORTH Church Academy held a Summer Festival of Music and Arts to showcase performing arts taught at the Academy, moving the event indoors to avoid the weather.
Amongst the many acts were solo singing and musical performances, group ensembles, a choir and a dance exhibition. Food and refreshments were organised by the Academy Chef and his staff and an art exhibition was displayed showing A- level students’ work.
Phil Smith, music teacher, said he was delighted with the quality of performances, “This was our first ‘all arts’ evening with dance, drama, visual art and music. How nice to see these four art forms all being represented in our summer festival. The evening meandered between specially commissioned drama pieces, revisited items from our school production ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, A-Level art exhibition and full scale dance numbers. It was great to see such a growing sense of confidence in our students some of whom had not performed until this year.”
