Kyle Law, 19, of Crow Trees Drive, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm when he appeared before Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Ruth Snodin, prosecuting, said Law told police he couldn’t remember what had happened at the Rush bar on Clumber Street, on April 24, because he had been drinking Jägerbombs - a shot of Jägermeister dropped into a glass of beer.

His victim Lee Johnson was taken to hospital, the court heard, while Law was also treated at A&E for concussion.

Mary Dixon, mitigating, said: “One of Mr Johnson’s friends saw Mr Law strike one punch to Mr Johnson.

“The CCTV doesn’t show the assault by Mr Law, but it does show an incident in the smoking area where Mr Johnson’s friends pushed him against some railings.

“He was punched and swung to the floor. He had a black eye when interviewed by the police.
