Sutton teenager puts town on the map in pageant

A Sutton teenager wants to put her town on the map, by using only local businesses in her bid to become Miss Teen Galaxy, and compete in the USA .

Beth Machin aged 15, has reached the grand final of the Miss Teen Galaxy Beauty pageant, which will take place in March 2019, in Lancashire. When Beth was offered the opportunity to represent Nottingham or Nottinghamshire, she declined and specifically requested to represent Sutton In Ashfield. Karen Stedeford , Beth’s mum said: “It means more to her to be representing her local community than our County or City.”“Beth is proud of her community and is honoured to be representing Sutton In Ashfield.”Beth said: “I doubt many people at the competition will have heard of Sutton In Ashfield, but they soon will because I’m putting us on the map. “I’m proud of where I live”.Beth has sourced everything she needs to the competition from Ashfield businesses.Her dresses are from ‘Create Your Day’ in Kirkby, she uses Joshua Jax in Sutton as her hair salon and even her dressmaker and make-up artist are based in Sutton. Beth has three sponsors so far: The Idlewells, Makeup By Grace and Joshua Jax.Charity fundraising is a big part of the pageants , and Beth wants to raise as much as she can in the run up to Christmas for local charities.The winner will go on to compete in Miss Galaxy International in the USA.
