A TEENAGER from Sutton has narrowly missed out on a place in the finals of a national competition says she enjoyed performing at the heats.
Sophie Evans (16) was cheered on by her family as she performed in the regional finals of the TeenStar singing competition in Derby on Saturday for a chance to compete at the national finals at the O2 Arena in London.
But while Sophie did not get through to this stage, she said she enjoyed the event.
“It was a good experience,” she said.
“There were lots of talented people there and everyone who came to watch me enjoyed it.”
Sophie had just three minutes and 30 seconds to wow the judges and she performed a version of Lady Gaga’s You and I.
She said: “I was quite nervous but by the time I got on stage I forgot about it.”
This weekend, she is planning to audition for the next series of ITV1’s hit series X-Factor although she has not yet decided what she is going to sing.
Meanwhile, Sophie, who is a student at Sutton’s Quarrydale School, hopes to follow her passion for singing, dancing and acting by studying a performing arts course at university.
“I just want to merge them all,” she said.
