A SUTTON resident says she has been left shocked and angry after thieves stole plants from her front garden during the night.
Annette Broughton, who lives on the town’s Ashfields estate, had recently renovated her front garden and bought six pot plants.
But some time between 16th and 17th November, thieves took two of the large round topiary bushes, which were in white pots from the garden outside her house.
Annette said: “At first I was shocked. I couldn’t believe someone could take them.
“I could understand if it was jewellery. I was just shocked and angered.”
The plant pots were large with bricks in the bottom.
“They must have had a car because they wouldn’t have been able to carry them. I just can’t believe it,” the 42-year-old said.
Residents on the estate have reported similar incidents in the summer and after this incident, Annette has vowed never to leave plants in the front garden again.
“I took the other plants off. If I put something down again, it will be heavy or pinned down,” she added.
“It’s a shame that it’s happened.”
