Sutton pawnbroker issues statement after Idlewells robbery

A Sutton pawnbroker firm that fell victim to an armed robbery has issued a statement following the incident.

H&T Pawnbrokers, located in Idlewells Shopping Centre, suffered an armed robbery yesterday (July 18) at around 3.30 pm, when two men entered the store and threatened a shop worker with a hammer before stealing a quantity of jewellery and watches.

A spokesperson for H&T said: “We can confirm a robbery took place at our store in Sutton in Ashfield on the 18th July.

“The robbers managed to gain access to a small amount of retail stock in the window area, some of which was taken.

“They did not gain entry to the customer property area. The police are currently investigating.”

Two community protection officers arrived at the scene shortly after 3.30 pm.

One was hit in the face with an asp baton and was taken to the King’s Mill Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A police statement said: “The suspects made off on a motorbike. One of them is believed to be white, about 6ft tall and of stocky build.

“The other is believed to be white and about 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10 ins tall.

“They were wearing black biker gear and black helmets.”
