SUTTON: Pair snared by capture car

Two Sutton thieves ended up on the wrong side of the law in the same week, after being netted by Nottinghamshire Police’s capture car.

Perry Barnes (pictured) was snapped breaking into one of the cars in Sutton, on Wednesday 6th November.

The 20-year-old, from Firemans Row, Sutton, admitted theft on Thursday 7th November and was sentenced to eight weeks imprisonment by Mansfield magistrates.

Kurtis Townroe, was also pictured a few days later in Skegby. He was arrested not far from the scene of his crime, a police spokesman said.

The 22-year-old, of Dalestorth Street, Sutton, pleaded guilty to theft and on Thursday 14 November 2013 at Mansfield Magistrates Court was sentenced to a six-month community order with supervision .

Capture Cars can be any type of vehicle, parked up anywhere – from driveways and road sides, to car parks and compounds. What they have in common is that they are fitted with recording and security equipment, such as cameras or SmartWater, which can be hidden anywhere on the inside or outside the vehicle.
