He is charged with being concerned in a funding arrangement on 14 January this year ‘as a result of which money was made available to another and he had reasonable cause to suspect it would be used for the purposes of terrorism.’

Ulhaq appeared in court for a brief preliminary hearing and spoke only to confirm his name.

He is expected to enter his plea to the charge at a case management hearing at the Old Bailey on 3rd October.

The judge, Mr Justice Sweeney, said a trial date would be set administratively once a venue in London has been chosen.

Prosecutor James Dawson said that the parties had agreed it would be better to hold the trial in London rather than Nottingham.

Ulhaq is on conditional bail.

The conditions include an electronic curfew between 9pm and 7am except between 1 and 29th July when it is between 1.30am and 7am, allowing him to attend a mosque in Mansfield.
