A MAN from Sutton has appeared in court this morning (Friday) charged with causing the death of a minibus driver following a crash near Mansfield.

Samuel Whyman, of Martyn Avenue, spoke only to confirm his name and address during the short hearing at Mansfield Magistrates Court.

The charge relates to a crash at the junction of Hamilton Road and the A617 Mansfield and Ashfield Regneration (Marr) road on March 26th.

Whyman (23) is alleged to have been driving a Renault Clio when it collided with a minibus at about 12.30am.

The driver of the minibus, 25-year-old Rafal Zaborowski of St Ann’s, Nottingham, died at the scene.

District Judge Diane Baker was told how Whyman has been on unconditional police bail for a number of months.

She said: “This charge can only be dealt with at the crown court.

“Due to the gravity of the alleged offence I need to add a condition to the bail that you stay at your home address each night.”

Whyman was given conditional bail to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 14th December.
