4th Rainbows - At Wednesday week’s meeting members made and decorated heart-shape biscuits and played a game. There was a ceremony to mark two members moving up to Brownies. Leaders were Jane Johnson, Claire Leivers, Katie Cudworth, Millie Coope and Jan Wells.

5TH Brownies - Badgework at Wednesday week’s meeting was making and decorating heart-shape biscuits. Members also played games led by Jane Johnson, Michelle Cooke, Katie Cudworth, Millie Coope and Jan Wells.

Electronic organ society - February’s concert at St John’s Church was by David Thomas, of Norfolk. He played classics and dance tunes on a Atelier organ.

Zion Baptist Church - Sunday week’s worship was led by Helen Tomlinson and the worship team. Blair Hutchison was in charge of sound and lighting mixing systems. Speaker was Les Barnard and readings were by Helen Tomlinson and the Rev Charles Claydon. Xtreme Sunday School was led by Lucy Chalk, Matt Tomlinson, Paulette West and Mel Young.

Salvation Army - Sylvia Linnell, Brian and Janet Sawyer and Alan and Margaret Wright served meals at Wednesday week’s lunch club meeting. Janet Sawyer led the over 60s meeting. On Thursday week Jenni Ross led Bible study. On Sunday week Brian Colley led the morning meeting and Maj Marjorie Astill, the evening one.

URC - The Minister, the Rev Colin Bones, conducted Sunday week’s service and celebrated communion. Organist was Mrs Helena Wain and reader and door steward was Mr Mark Renshaw. Mrs Crystal Gibson was vestry steward and Mr Ivan Smith and Mrs Wain were communion stewards. Mr and Mrs Elwyn Bowler provided flowers arranged by Mrs Ellen Hartshorne. Mr Bill Gibson took the offertory. Saturday week’s coffee morning raised £296 for funds. It was run by Bill and Crystal Gibson, Jim and Elspeth Clunie, Janet, Alan and David Fairfield, Helena Wain and Marion Newman. At February’s fellowship meeting Mrs Madge Marshall gave a talk about her recent visit to the West Indies.

St John’s Church - On Thursday week there was a WeightWatchers’ meeting. Olive Branch Coffee Bar was open on Friday week and Saturday week. There was a Boys’ Brigade meeting on the Friday. Sunday week’s morning worship was led by Mr Nick Biggar. Mr Bryn Hughes played the clavinova and readers were Mrs Madge Spencer and Lesley Moakes. Junior church was led by Vicky Young and Janine Burton. Refreshments were served by Jill Moakes and Janine Burton. Mr Gordon Bestwick led the evening service and Mrs Sue Otter operated the clavinova. Readers were Mrs Irene Bestwick and Lesley Moakes and stewards were Jill and Lesley Moakes. On Monday week there were meetings of Ashfield Childminders’ Association, a Pilates class and Sutton Choral Society. Yesterday week there were meetings of a carers’ and toddlers’ group, a Scrabble group and a zumba class. Last Wednesday there was prayer, meditation and a ramble and art and keep fit classes.

Community of Christ - Helen Kemp arranged craft activities at the Peacemakers Youth Group’s meeting last Tuesday week. Barbara Woodhouse and Marianne Rowe assisted. Hazel Holmes led worship at the women’s meeting and members gave favourite readings and poems. There was a coffee morning and nearly new sale on Wednesday week and a youth activity in the evening. A children’s games morning was held on Saturday week. Pastor Barbara Woodhouse arranged Sunday week’s family worship with a theme Follow Me. Hollie and Amber Stevenson took the offering. Afterwards there was a pot luck lunch.

Aspley Court - At yesterday week’s meeting Dorothy Papworth won a beetle drive and Nelly Bramley received a consolation prize. Members played bingo after lunch. Game winners were Mary Armstrong, Beryl Thompson, Joanna Crump and Brenda Rudhall. Birthday cards and gifts were given to Nelly Bramley and Edna Smith.

Brierley House - Bingo callers were Mrs V. Morrison and Mr A. Morrison. Game winners were Mesdames J. Connah, J. Swain, E. McKee, D. Mitchell, B. Rudhall, E. Hill, M. Rolley, P. Lovatt, P. Dykes, M. Brain, J. Mansfield, R. Franks, J. Gregory, M. Johnson, M. Turp, A. Reddington, Morrison, E. Pickering and D. Goddard and Messrs E. Lovatt, Morrison, H. Mitchell, B. Reddington and D. Johnson. Raffle winners were Mesdames J. Wood, Brain, Dykes, Goddard, Mansfield, M. Barsby, Franks and Rolley and Mr Johnson.

New Cross Church - Members celebrated Holy Communion on Wednesday week and there was a Mothers’ Union meeting. Hilary Bostock led Pins and Needles Group’s meeting and Thursday week’s card craft session. There was a prayer meeting later. June Bagley led Friday week’s MINGLE Group meeting and Jane Selby led a children’s glee dance club meeting. The Rev Frank Crowther celebrated Sunday week’s Holy Communion. Mr Colin Slater led Morning Prayer and youth team members arranged 11 Alive service. Greeters were Peter and Susanne Brunt. Adrian Self gave readings and Derek Smith took the offertory. Carol Frear served refreshments.
