Excited royalist residents at Sutton Lodge sent the letter to Kate and Will congratulating them on the birth of prince George.

Just as they had about given up hope on the letter reaching its destination, months later the royal response arrived on the care home’s doorstep.

Sarah Ellison, activity coordinator, said: “We made the card with hand drawn pictures and got all the residents to hand sign it.

“Then we just hoped for the best.

“We were so excited when we received the letter from the palace and now it’s hanging in the foyer for all the residents and visitors to enjoy.”
