A MOTORCYCLIST who runs a Sutton business will hit the road in a few weeks to raise funds for both Macmillan Cancer Support and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
David Straw, who owns family business D&S Storage Ltd on Coxmoor Road, will be riding his new Ducati Diavel 900 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise money for the two worthy charities.
David, who lives in Edwinstowe, will undertake the 14-hour challenge on 7th July and will be travelling with a support vehicle.
At Birmingham, he will be joined by family members who have collection buckets and who will follow him to his final destination at Land’s End.
For David, the timing of his challenge will be particularly poignant.
“My father died 14 years ago on 8th July and that’s when we land at Land’s End.
“He suffered from bone cancer and Macmillan were fantastic with him.
“I have been watching (BBC TV show) Great Ormond Street and we just needed to do it for them.”
David has wanted to do the challenge for some time.
“It’s having the time to do it,” he said.
“We have our own business and we are so busy.”
