Sutton academy pupils in pink Race For life

Sutton Community Academy pupils and staff are putting their best feet forward to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The whole academy is taking part in its own Race For Life event after the idea was suggested by a group of Year 11 girls.

PE teacher Marie Dymond, said: “Many students at the academy know someone who has been affected by cancer, so the PE department looked into the options and discovered that the school could organise its own “Race for Life”.

The whole school, including students, teachers, teaching assistants, dinner ladies, caretakers, the adult education department and senior management have been invited to take part.

Marie added: “They will be completing a 3km course on Sutton Lawn, many in fancy dress, and hopefully collecting lots of sponsorship money.

“They would appreciate as much support on the day as possible so please go along and give them a cheer.”

The event will be held on 12th June at approximately 2pm, starting near the school astro turf.
