We want to put all the unsung groups that represent the beating hearts of our communities in the spotlight.

The latest organisation to come under the GrassRoots Spotlight is....the Mansfield Centre for the National Trust.

The committee organise speakers to present on a variety of subjects. In addition we organised at least two outings per year to other National Trust properties and usually a coach is laid on for this, for a small charge. We have recently undertaken promotional activities at Clumber Park to encourage new members and intend repeating this at other locations.

Age of oldest member and youngest members? Family ties etc...

Our youngest member is 37 and our oldest is 93.

Does your group have any claims to fame/funny stories, or has it had any famous members?

Claims to fame are donating to other National Trust properties in the area i.e. a virtual tour video of Mr. Straw’s house, chain saw carved furniture at Hardwick Hall from a felled tree, displayed in the Cart Shed, a display cabinet in the Workhouse at Southwell, as well as the Delving Deeper room in the Discovery Centre at Clumber Park.

Do you have any ongoing campaigns?
