A team of superheroes who completed a tough physical challenge have handed over the fruits of their labour to a community cause.
The four fitness fanatics from the Mansfield area took part in the Total Warrior challenge in the Lake District recently and raised more than £1,275 for the Community First Responders.
Tony Meehan (41), Erica Meehan (34), Ady James (33) and Royston Barksby (37), completed the 10-mile course dressed as their favourite superheroes.
After handing the cash over, Erica - who took part in the challenge dressed as Batwoman - said: “People we work with, family and friends were very generous and supportive.
“The first responders we met were so pleased with our efforts. We got to meet some amazing people who give many hours to assisting in emergency situations.”
“I think we can all say it was a good but tough experience and look forward to our next challenge.”
The responders are a group of local volunteers who are trained to assist in medical emergencies until an ambulance can arrive.
Working as part of a rota system, they are despatched at the same time as an ambulance, via ambulance control, to attend life-threatening calls, including heart attacks and seizures.
They can deliver basic first aid, use a defibrillator and offer assurance until the paramedics arrived.
