FAMILIES in Sutton have been given another reason to look forward to the holidays with the launch of a new summer fun day.
The Sutton Summer Spectacular is an all day event taking place at Sutton Lawn for communities in the Carsic, Leamington and New Cross areas - and it will not cost revellers a penny.
The event will feature all sorts of fun-filled activities including a big picnic area and children’s entertainer, and there will also be chances to help raise cash for local community projects.
It is being organised by the Ashfield Fair Share Trust who received funding through the Big Lottery Fund.
Sarah Thorpe, Fair Share grants manager, said: “We are in the early stages of planning the event but there will be something for all the family. We are looking forward to the special exhibition we are planning for the day.”
Community groups, local charity and local businesses who would like to exhibit at the event can contact the trust by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Businesses will be asked to make a £50 donation to a charity chosen by the trust. Anyone interested in volunteering at this event can email the same address.
The Ashfield Fair Share Trust is managed the Nottinghamshire Community Foundation. The cash comes from the £50 million Community Foundation Network.
The 10 year, UK wide initiative, aims to build social capital, community capacity and improve the environment in disadvantaged areas.
The Sutton Summer Spectacular is being organised in conjunction with Ashfield District Council and Nottinghamshire Police and will take place on Saturday 18th June.
