Stranger's £2k gift goes to the wrong address

Thousands of pounds in cash donated by a stranger to a mum fundraising for her son's brain tumour treatment was delivered to the wrong home.

And Sandra Marshall has praised her “honest” neighbour for passing the money on.

The £2,000 in cash was delivered by mistake to Lisa Marshall who lives on the same road as Sandra, who is raising money for her son to have treatment abroad.

The envelope contained a note which said “I hope this helps your son”.

Sandra, aged 65, of Chesterfield Road North, Mansfield, said the donation was “brilliant”.

Lisa, 57, found Sandra on Facebook,

Sandra said: “We are so grateful, if she hadn’t been honest I would not have known about it.

“A lot of people would have kept it.”

Lisa said: “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

“I am really pleased I found her, they need all the help they can get.”

Dad-of-one Jack Sanders, Sandra’s son, 35, from Abbotts Croft, Mansfield, was diagnosed with the tumour five years ago.

How Jack’s treatment is going

Jack, who has a “fast growing’ Glioblastoma brain tumour ,and his mum have just got back from his latest treatment in Germany. So far, more than £45,000 has been raised for Jack’s specialist treatment .

Called dendritic cell therapy, the type of immunotherapy costs 12,000 euros each time.

Jack has so far had three rounds of treatment since the end of December.

He is all set for a scan next week which will show if the treatment has made any changes to his grade four tumour.

Sandra is still fund-raising for her son as he is expected to need “months” of extra treatment.
