Still time to nominate Derbyshire’s community heroes

There is still time to nominate local heroes for Derbyshire County Council’s Excellence in the Community Awards.

The authority wants to hear about exceptional people, groups and organisations that have worked tirelessly:

* to raise money for good causes

* as volunteers

* to protect and enhance the Derbyshire environment

* to make Derbyshire a safer place to work and visit

* to encourage closer, caring and active communities

* to promote Derbyshire through their sporting, musical, academic or artistic success

A prestigious ceremony will be hosted for winners at the Devonshire Dome, Buxton, on Monday 15 October.

Individuals, groups, businesses, voluntary groups and charities that are improving the lives of others will be honoured at the awards, which are now in their sixth year.

Coun Andrew Lewer, Leader of Derbyshire County Council, said: “Please tell us about truly exceptional people who put the needs of others first and make a difference to their communities by making that extra effort which makes them stand out.
