Stamp of approval for craft venture

A Sutton girl who started an online crafts business is starring in her own TV show displaying her wares.

Hayley Bignall (21), of Redcliffe Street, debuts on the Create and Craft channel today at 8am.

The show is entitled Dreamees Stamping Delights and will give her an opportunity to market her personally designed and manufactured rubber stamps to a larger audience.

Hayley’s mum, Carol Bignall (53), said: “They got in touch with us February and asked to see some samples then said we could be on the show.

“If you do really well on there you have a show every six weeks and I am sure that will generate a lot more business.”

Hayley set up Dreamees, which also sells CDs and other accessories such as ribbons, hair pins and buttons, aged 18.

She began by joining mum Carol during a number of shifts at a craft shop in Huthwaite.

“She was just doodling but they liked what she produced and said we should put it on a stamp,” said Carol. “We did our first show at Bramall Lane in Sheffield - she sold a lot and it really took off.”

Hayley manufactures the rubber stamps using a £3,000 Colop stamp making machine after designing them on her computer.

The Open University student, who is currently studying English and Design, invested in all her own equipment but has never looked back since.

Said Carol: “She loves having her own business - She is never away from it but all of her hard work is paying off now.”
