Stags confirm plans for 108-bed hotel in Mansfield

Mansfield Town FC have revealed they are submitting plans for their own hotel - attached to the South Stand at the stadium on Quarry Lane, Mansfield.

Chairman and owner of the club John Radford, has said he is submitting plans for a 108-bed-room ‘high quality’ hotel and has spoken to a global hotel brand which hopes to work with.

The club previously submitted hotel plans for the old bus station site on Rosemary Street, Mansfield, but they were not selected as the preferred bid by Mansfield District Council.

Mr Radford said: “I think the town can support two hotels.

“It will be my first hotel, we want it to look nice.

“I was a little disappointed to start with when the news was released about us not being the preferred bid, but then when it all comes down to Mansfield we are all on the same side.”

In the plans the hotel will contain conference rooms, a break out area and gym.

The reception for the hotel will also not be at ground level.

The plans are yet to go through planning, but after a pre-plan meeting Mr Radford attended he said it ‘should not be a problem’ and hopes to have the plans submitted buy the end of the month.

The hotel is hoped to be fully operational by 2020.`
